Brand Identity

Carlton had a number of television idents from 1993-2003. The idents from used from 1993-2002 were designed by Lambie-Nairn, aside from the look used in 1995, which was produced in-house by the Central graphics team. The company never used on the generic style of 1998 and 2001, but did eventually start using the generic idents as the merger loomed, retaining their logo onscreen nonetheless. In 2001, Carlton's star ident package was adopted for widescreen television. 

1993

In 1993, Carlton launched their television identity as they went on air for the first time. 

Late 1993

Later in 1993 Carlton refreshed the brand identity, changing the backgrounds and toning them down.

After Carlton acquired Central in 1994, the promotions team at Central were tasked with redesigning the on screen indents for Carlton.

1996

In 1996, Carlton asked Lambie-Nairn to refresh their identity, with the idents become quirky representations of the programmes.

1999

The star was added in 1999 to position Carlton as the 'star' of the ITV Network. 

2001

The identity was shown in widescreen from 2001, and ITV became ITV1.

2002

The Carlton PLC living hold, which featured a different stars background.
