After a number of different packages of the original incarnation of idents, Carlton opted for a change. Retaining the Lambie-Nairn logotype, Carlton employed the Central Television design team to produce the on-screen idents (Carlton had acquired Central in late 1993). The result was a series of swishy/swirly backgrounds, with the Carlton logo forming onto the background in a number of different ways. The accompanying soundtrack, created by Philip Chambon and Daniel Simmons was uplifting, building to a fanfare at the end. Various versions of the soundtrack had choral stings and building horns. Interestingly, the new identity used a similar colour palette to the original 1993 identity.
This identity was discontinued in 1996, after Carlton executives decided that they wanted something a little more upmarket. Lambie-Nairn described the identity as "not signifying very much" (Lambie-Nairn, 191)
